Athens is a city almost everyone knows but that isn't perhaps as popular as a tourist destination as the Greek islands are. We spent some hours at the railway station in Athens with a friend of mine back in 2006 but never really saw the city before this trip.

We had a long weekend to spend in Greece and looked for other interesting locations near Athens to go to, but everything seemed to be quite far away and we opted to stay the whole time in Athens instead. The December weekend we spent there turned out to be great with clear skies and moderate temperatures.
