Quakeworld, a computer game released in 1996 and that I've played since 1997, has been a big part of my life for over twenty years. There hadn't been any tournaments with big money prizes in Quakeworld since the '90s, but that changed when Quakecon, a Quake convention held every year in Dallas, Texas, announced a twentieth anniversary 2on2 tournament with a prize pool of 25,000 US dollars. Naturally there was no way I was going to miss such an event! I moved quickly and found a team mate for myself the same day the tournament was announced. Half a year later I found myself on a very long journey from Tampere to Helsinki to Istanbul to Houston to Dallas.

As always, I didn't want to spend more money than necessary and ended up spending my first night in the United States of America in Third Ward, one of Houston's notoriously dangerous districts. It was my first time traveling in the States so I didn't know exactly what to expect but I at least didn't get shot! The picture is taken on one of the streets in the Third Ward as I walked towards the city center from the Airbnb place that I stayed at.
