We made it to Hainan and back, and in the end everything actually went way better than expected!
We had bought the train tickets all the way to Sanya already in Zhangjiajie, and we realized a bit too late that we would only have about forty minutes to change the train AND station in Haikou even if the train arrived as scheduled. In China you can make changes and even cancel your train tickets for a small fee, but only at the station where you have purchased the tickets or at the station from which the train leaves. Our train arrived a bit late in Haikou, which is very typical for China, and we right away knew that we weren't going to make it to our next train. Luckily some local fellow at the Haikou railway station was really helpful and basically forced the cashier to change our tickets to better ones :).
In the end we made it to the sunny beaches of Sanya, and I guess thanks to off-season the beaches were pretty much empty. We had very relaxing four days there, and now we are in Nanning, on our way towards Kunming, Chengdu and finally the mountains in western Sichuan :).

And I thought that people in Morocco were bad! If you ever make the mistake to come to Guilin and try the Li river cruise then you've seen it all when it comes to annoying 'hawking' and stupid people in general. The worst and even average people here in China are really so barbaric that it's hard to remember that some of them are actually really nice.
Tomorrow we'll continue towards south, to the island of Hainan which is also known as the 'Chinese Hawaii'. I hope we'll have some rest there before trying to find a way to the mountains in western Sichuan.
This view luckily made it somehow possible to forget the Chinese people for a while.
Still alive and kicking! We just visited an over-priced natural park here in Zhangjiajie and we'll continue towards Guilin later today.
Monkey business
I don't have my laptop here, but at least I can post something with my phone :). So far we haven't met too many locals who could speak English, and naturally everything is written in Chinese! Well, now it's time to go and see what Xi'an has to offer!

We're back from Slovenia! The trip was nice but slightly too rainy for our taste. Perhaps one day we'll go back there in the summer to climb some of the amazing mountains they have over there!

I'm almost finished with the changes to the page I've been working on. There aren't many changes that are visible to normal users, but let me know if something doesn't seem to work.
Long time no see! I just wanted to let everyone know that I haven't abandoned this page completely. I just haven't found time to write anything, but it's about to change! I'm done with my Master's thesis, and there certainly are more than a few interesting trips to write about so something new should appear here sooner or later :).

Let's hope the possibility for editing comments will make people comment more as they don't have to be afraid of mistakes anymore :).
