Ukraine 2010 trip report - Leaving

Despite all the corruption in her institute, Inna passed her entrance exams succesfully without paying anything. Meanwhile I had designed this webpage and written the trip report of Morocco. Inna's little brother asked me almost every night to work out with him, and it was good although sometimes I felt really tired to do it :). During the days we tried to find anti-malaria drugs, but no place in Ukraine had them, which was unbelievable. In the end we had to fly to Bangkok without any anti-malaria medication. Luckily other drugs in Ukraine are cheap and easy to get. We bought some antibiotics and painkillers for a really low price.

A typical Ukrainian bird relaxing with us.

Finally it was time to move on and to say good bye to Inna's family. It seemed like her mother was really worried about our trip to Asia. Even more worried than she usually is when Inna goes somewhere with me. The train trip took about nine hours and we had about five hours in Kiev before our flight to Bangkok left. As we have both seen Kiev many times we just ended up sitting and relaxing near the independence square for an hour or two and then taking a metro to the railway station. One more bus trip from the railway station to the Kiev-Borispol airport and we were ready to leave Europe for five weeks.

Like always, Ukraine had offered something good and something bad within the five weeks we spent there. I will always hate the corruption and some small things which work so well in the west. On the other hand Ukraine is still a very original country and it can offer something other typical tourist destinations can not. This wasn't my first trip to Ukraine and most probably it won't be the last one either. See you again, Ukraine.

The biggest working clock in the world?

Thank you for such a great work! Typical bird...seems to be a sparrow %) Earlier people belived that these birds are somehow connected with devil };-) Plenty of them in Pietari, too.

Heh, I'm so bad with birds! I only know some of the bigger ones. Thanks for the info! I guess we have them in Finland also but I don't really pay attention to them. Maybe these birds are small enough to fit in the portal between our world and the underworld ;).

Inna told me that the clock is the biggest clock in the world made of flowers :). Thanks!
