Butterfly Farm

On the second day in Malaysia Inna wanted to visit a butterfly farm not too far away from George Town. I wasn't so sure that I would like it but she's done so many things during our holidays just because I've wanted something that it wasn't a problem for me to go and see butterflies with her :).

It took about an hour to get to the farm by bus and we were quite shocked to see that the driver didn't carry any change with him! The trip cost four ringgits and had we given him ten, he wouldn't have returned us anything! Later I've heard that it happens in some other countries as well but this was the first time for us.

Butterfly love

The motion sickness came to me once again and I had to just sit and rest for a while after getting out of the bus. The entrance fee to the farm was twenty ringgits, a lot more than we had expected but we went in anyway. Luckily this time it really was worth paying! Everything inside was amazingly beautiful and there was a lot more to see than I had thought. Butterflies flew everywhere and landed on the walls and plants near us and sometimes even on our arms or legs. And there were other animals too! Lizards, tortoises, birds, snakes, bugs, beetles, scorpions, insects, spiders, fishes...

Once again pictures will tell more than a thousand words I guess :). We spent more than two hours in the garden and in the end I think I enjoyed it even more than Inna did :). At one point we were lucky to be in the right place at the right time to see a small exhibition of lizards and insects. After the show we were allowed to hold some of the animals in our hands. I don't know if any of them were venomous but at least they didn't bite or sting us.

On the way back a man with a motorcycle tried to grab Inna's bag but luckily he didn't get it. Before we even realized what happened the man was already far away with his bike. We read about an incident like this before and it seems like it really happens so be careful!

In the evening we visited the modern district once again. My stomach didn't feel too good and I wanted to eat something not local. We went to Pizza Hut, which was very expensive but really tasty too. We also asked what it would cost to repair Inna's phone and the price would have been 150 ringgits. We decided to skip the offer. We had heard that electronics could be cheap in Malaysia but we didn't find any good offers on laptops at least.

Some of the butterflies were sized like small birds.

Sometimes the butterflies landed on us!

My favourite frogs and a great picture of them. Why so serious?

This guy was heavy!

I wonder how Malay people try if it's heavy or light? :-p
Actually I just found out that "poo" and "pooh" are synonyms so I would like to know the reason why that lovely yellow bear is called "Winnie the Pooh"... :)

haha))interesting)) that is the story: "Christopher Milne had named his toy bear after Winnie, a Canadian black bear which he often saw at London Zoo, and "Pooh", a swan they had met while on holiday. (One person who bought the bear) named it "Winnie" after his hometown in Winnipeg, Manitoba. Pooh the swan appears as a character in its own right in When We Were Very Young." Also...it seems that in Russianpooh means тьфу and уф!

I already told you that you can roughly measure the weight by checking if the poo is floating or not :).
