Dubrovnik
I again don't unfortunately remember why, but for one reason or another we decided to visit a travel agency in Herceg Novi to ask about trips to Dubrovnik in Croatia. Croatia wasn't a Schengen country back then, and once again we were positively surprised when we were told in the travel agency that we could go to Dubrovnik for a day for only 15 euros per person. It was a no-brainer!
The bus trip didn't take more than an hour as far as I remember, and we didn't have any problems crossing the border. I usually don't like places with a lot of tourists but it was impossible not to like Dubrovnik. The old town is perhaps the biggest and the most beautiful I've seen anywhere, but especially the lower parts of it were packed with tourists. Thanks to the big size of the old town it was always possible to find some quieter places too.
There was no entrance fee to the old town itself, but it was rather expensive to go to the castle wall that offers magnificent views over the city and all the way to the sea. After finding out the high price for the castle wall we had already decided not to go there at all, but then we found some random gate open in a construction yard somewhere in the higher parts of the town, and we decided to use this cheaper way to get up to the wall :).
Perhaps nothing else worth explaining happened in Dubrovnik, but it was incredibly hot and incredibly beautiful there, and I recommend paying the old town a visit if you are in the neighborhood. I'll let the pictures do the talking this time.
