Back to civilization
We arrived in the coastal city of Bar well in time to search for a place to stay. We had spent, as far as I remember, over two weeks in a tent without a break so we decided to try something different this time. While walking on a beach boulevard a local guy stopped his car and told that he had a place where we could stay for a good price. We agreed to check the place out, but things took a wrong turn pretty quickly. It appeared that the man driving didn't actually have a place of his own, but he just knew some places in Bar where we MIGHT find something. We figured the scheme out pretty fast and told the guy to stop and let us out. He naturally wanted money for his "services" although he had only wasted our time and didn't find accommodation for us. We had a small quarrel with him and I even had to ask Inna to get out of the car and made sure she got our backpacks out of the trunk before we both left the car. In the end I paid the guy 2€ and we were both left angry.
We continued walking along the shore and found a place with one the numerous "sobe apartmani" signs next to it. We entered and found a place to stay indeed. Unfortunately this proved to be the worst place in Montenegro we ended up staying in. One of the owners seemed to be really annoyed at us, didn't want us to use any electricity and even locked up the toilet for the night!
Fortunately Bar itself was a lot nicer than our initial experiences suggested. The modern "New Bar" wasn't anything spectacular but the separate town of Stari Bar (old Bar) that stands on a hill right next to the new one was really beautiful with its many ancient ruins. We also visited a small town of Ulcinj with an old medieval fortress in it. After all these years I can't remember how we got there, but I guess we took a bus :). There in the harbor we saw some fishermen showing off the small sharks they had caught. All in all I'm not sure if I can recommend these southeastern towns of Montenegro. They are not awful by any means, but I enjoyed my time in other parts of Montenegro a lot more. On the other hand we spent our last days in these parts so we might have just been a bit too tired to be able to get the most out of them.
The next day it was time to head back towards Budva and get ready for the grueling bus ride back to Ukraine. The strange thing was that although we had thoroughly and fully enjoyed Montenegro, we weren't sad to leave because the holiday wasn't over yet and because we really had had enough time to see almost everything we wanted. We spent the last evening in Budva by staying on the rocky shore, swimming, snorkeling and just relaxing and enjoying life.
